Religion Vs Relationship

Religion Vs Relationship

I am done with religion. The bumpy marriage that lasted strangely longer than it should have is over, finally. Whew!!! Why? This is why:

Religion, any religion, and especially Indian Christianity, enslaves, condemns, heaps guilt and the shame that results from it on its followers.

What is the alternative to this? The way out:

Relationship –a working relationship, no matter how bumpy, with the living God through His son Jesus. Does this sound again like religion? No. Jesus tore down the religion of His day. He broke through time and space, reaching out to us, all because He wants a relationship with us, a working relationship between God the Creator with Humans. Period!

When we have a loving relationship with anyone –Mum, Dad, Siblings, a Friend, a Lover, a Mentor whomsoever it may be, we feel liberated. When we have a relationship that does not condemn us, does not shame us, gripe and compliant we are liberated. We can be ourselves, we feel welcomed, loved and in a community. We can be who we are with that person –no shame, no masks, no guilt, just heart to heart communication. How much more, then, does a real relationship with Jesus, the Liberator King, liberates us! Think about it.

So I am done with religion and yet I am never left with a vacuum inside; I have a working relationship and that’s that.

  1. Well said - but it is not only Indian Christianity - the same exists in many other countries as well as I have seen living proof.

    1. Hmm I see. I saw that i the US too. But the quality of human capital is better there as little as I saw. Without empathy and love we are empty vessels.

  2. Relationship with God is foundational and key to anything substantial and acceptable service to God. However, Christian faith also has the community and family aspect which also is important. However challenging it may seem, but Christ is coming again to take His bride, the church. There is nothing like a perfect local church or a perfect Christian, but all true child of God are expected to move towards maturity

    1. That is no excuse for people who have all the education and exposure in the world to be closed-minded and have no empathy for others different than them. And further encourage others to be closed-minded too. A Christian version of the ISIS, eh? Lol
