Religion Vs Relationship
I am done with
religion. The bumpy marriage that lasted strangely longer than it should have
is over, finally. Whew!!! Why? This is why:
Religion, any
religion, and especially Indian Christianity, enslaves, condemns, heaps guilt
and the shame that results from it on its followers.
What is the
alternative to this? The way out:
Relationship –a
working relationship, no matter how bumpy, with the living God through His son
Jesus. Does this sound again like religion? No. Jesus tore down the religion of
His day. He broke through time and space, reaching out to us, all because He
wants a relationship with us, a working relationship between God the Creator
with Humans. Period!
When we have a
loving relationship with anyone –Mum, Dad, Siblings, a Friend, a Lover, a
Mentor whomsoever it may be, we feel liberated. When we have a relationship
that does not condemn us, does not shame us, gripe and compliant we are
liberated. We can be ourselves, we feel welcomed, loved and in a community. We
can be who we are with that person –no shame, no masks, no guilt, just heart to
heart communication. How much more, then, does a real relationship with Jesus,
the Liberator King, liberates us! Think about it.
